Great read. I think it's time for a UBI and fast.

Great read and a conversation we need to be having. I can't see the job market or the way in which people (at mass) learn to find happiness and fulfilment in new areas with the additional time they will have, adapting as fast as the disruptions come from AI.

Entering the AI age has the potential for such massive change, which can move so fast that we need to look at economic tools such as UBIs to mitigate the pressure it will initially put on our current ways of life.

The "AI age" is so exciting and scary, but it is here, and we need to be navigating it without our heads in the sand to the potential risks.

Nice one James. Super well put. The problem is also that the policy makers dont understand the technology yjey are legislating on and the technology makers dont care about politics. For the most part. One thing they all agree upon is that this advancement needs to be controlled and regulated.

Agree! We need to have the ability for the state to take actions which can only be taken with legislative power. I think we also need to ensure that the technologies developed are as transparent as possible to allow for the general public to remain as educated as possible. I hold some faith in the power of group think or a mass formation event to add power to the direction this technology goes in. That may be wishful thinking though because it feels we are also in an "information" crisis with such a strong split in the population between (in colloquially terms) "main stream" & "alternative" information. With truth and lies residing in both these popular sources of information, it may be difficult for a set of unifying ideas to arise.

I agree 100%, might even add an addendum. It's a logical outcome for humanity.
